Palace Heritage Garba will be one of the biggest Garba celebration of the country. Being promoted by the Royal Family Of Gaekwads, of Vadodara, the event will happen at the famous Navlakhi Grounds between 29th Sept - 7th Oct 2019. Internationally acclaimed singing duo - Mr. Sachin Limaye and Mrs. Aashita Limaye, and their troupe, will be making people dance on their mesmerising vocal prowess over the 9 days of festivities. Palace Heritage Garba is collaborating with The Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya', a 105-year-old institution which is constantly trying to bring in a change in the society by imparting vocational training to the underprivileged women of the society. Proceeds from Palace Heritage Garba will go to the trust with the aim of supporting women and girl child causes in society.

Palace Heritage Garba Vadodara is the first local United Way set up in India in 1986. 30 years back Palace Heritage Garba Vadodara was founded by Baroda Citizens Council with support from United Way International & UNICEF. Palace Heritage Garba Vadodara is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act in 1998 & FCRA.

Over three decades, Palace Heritage Garba Vadodara is supporting communities, local NGOs and the government for sustainable improvement in the quality of life of less privileged people in and around Gujarat.

Garba is a form of dance that originated in the state of Gujarat and is performed during Navrati, a major Hindu festival dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. The festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, as in Hinduism, Durga famously destroyed the demon Mahishasura after a battle that lasted nine nights.
Palace Heritage Garba organizes “Garba Mahotsav” every year, one of the most awaited events, wherein dancers from all over the world participate. Palace Heritage Garba Vadodara has been hosting the event for the last 28 years and every year its popularity increases. This year, the biggest Garba event in India was organized from 13th to 21st October 2015, gathering 35,000 dancers and more than 25,000 viewers each night.

As the entire state dresses up in pop colored, embroidered fineries and crowd the various Garba and dandiya raas venues, the vibrant nine days of celebrations make it one of the longest dance festivals in the world. While every town and city of Gujarat is immersed in the Navratri excitement, there are some places that lead the list of ultimate festivities. Vadodara, the cultural capital of Gurajat is globally known for its love for traditional garbas and it’s reverence and fervour for Navratri are unmatched. This year the city will host “Palace Heritage Garba” at the famous Navlakhi grounds and the Royal Gaekwad family and Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya Trust promise to recreate the regal magic of our sanskari Sayajinagri.

With the intend to generate funds and awareness for social and charitable causes generationally supported by the royal family, the Palace Heritage Garba will be in keeping with the long legacy of Gaekwadi philanthropy.

Maharani CHIMNABAI STREE UDYOGALAYA’, a 105-year-old vocational training institute overlooking Sur Sagar has over the years worked hard to educate and engage lower income women to make a difference in their life and society. Founded in 1914 the trust is one of the earliest self governing women charitable organisation in the country, working towards empowering women. The trust was initiated and has always been run under the leadership of the women of the Royal Family. Proceeds from Palace Heritage Garba will go to the trust with the aim of supporting women and girl child causes.

Internationally acclaimed singers Sachin Limaye and Ashita Limaye, along with their troupe, will be enchanting audiences with their vocal prowess over the 9 days. With their long standing career of 25 years, they have been at the forefront of classical and traditional Gujarati singing. They specialise in a unique Baroda style sugam Garba and have some great talent in their team. Seema Patel and Himanshu Makwana will bring a robust folk flavour to the entire garba with their strong voices while younger generation singers like Parth Doshi and Kavya Limaye will add a young contemporary touch and strike a chord with the younger generation. Through the singing talent with its various age groups we plan to introduce tradition in a fun way to the younger generation as well. The singers along with Maharani Radhika Raje are trying to revive some old garbis as well.
